I’ve spentĀ $200 on gas, $400 on useless, unecessary, miscellanious items, andĀ over $500 on food (this includes starbucks, too). That’s about half of my income. And that’s a sin.
As the days go by, and as I age, let it be known, the things I wasted my time with, and those things with which I did not.

Which part is the sin? The useless items, amount of food, or what?

I am not being a good steward of my money. I am spending the majority of it on things that it need not be spent on, for the most part. Glorifying myself with the money, I feel, is my sin. Seeing all of these things is too convicting to ignore.

that’s not too bad… I spend $400 a month on gas, thousands on useless junk, and let’s not even talk about food… you are a saint compared to me…

hmm…i agree with Bobby. I can see how this is convicting…
It’s actually really interesting that you blogged about this topic and Kristen and i just discussed this last night with our small group Bible study about how we are so materialistic and how all this stuff just holds us back and hinders us…
Jenna told Kristen this really great saying or thing or whatever, that God only gives us what we need for right now. So when we try to hold onto things or even buy things when we thinkg we might need them later is sinful, becuase we are not trusting God to provide and care for us.

I really believe God wants us to invest our money wisely. I don’t think that necessarily means save every penny, but what you spend your money on defines who you are (i.e. clothes, food, gadgets, even things like porn.)
